How To Password Protect A Directory

This article will provide instructions on how to password protect any directory on your server using the cPanel interface. Please note the following from cPanel about password protected directories:

Password protection allows you to require a username and password to access a folder within your site from the web. When password protecting a folder, there are a few things to remember.

Protecting a folder will protect all folders within that folder. Also, you will need to create users who can access the protected directory. You can give the password protected directory any name, no matter what the actual directory is called.

The following steps will guide you in this process:

**All pictures are for reference only. The actual layout of your interface may differ from the images below**

**You will need to change all references of yourdomain.co.uk to your main cPanel domain.**

Step 1: Log into your cPanel interface.

You can log in to your cPanel interface atyourdomain.co.uk/cpanel

**If you experience any difficulties accessing your cPanel, please contact our technical support team. They would be happy to help you obtain your login details or any other login issues.**

Step 2: Click on Password Protect Directories in the Security field.
